Free Kindy
Did you know, Nest Montessori is approved to provide Free Kindy to eligible children?
We can offer your family up to 5-days of our Kindy program every week to prepare your child for the transition to school.
The Queensland government's Free Kindy initiative allows your child to receive 15 hours per week of government approved kindergarten education, for up to 40 weeks per year, for free.
Kindy is a part-time educational program for children who are at least 4 years of age by 30 June in the year before they start school.
It is designed to help children develop early learning skills, confidence and social-emotional wellbeing, laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning.
Kindy in a Long Daycare Centre
At Nest Montessori, we offer our families access to Kindy within long daycare hours. This is called wrap-around care.
Free Kindy covers 15 hours of kindergarten each week. If your child attends a long day care centre such as ours, there will be an additional cost for that extra time.
For example: our service is open 11 hours per day. If your child attends our free Kindy program for 2 days a week, equating to 7.5 hours per day, the hours of service provided outside of this will be an out of pocket expense.
Good news: this extra cost may be reduced through CCS, depending on your family's eligibility.
Kindy Program
Every child deserves access to quality early education to help set them up for a strong start in life.
At Kindy, children will:
- Explore new ideas and express themselves through play, nurturing curiosity and creativity
- Make friends and build social skills
- Develop independence and confidence by making decisions, negotiating and problem solving
- Strengthen resilience and build a sense of identity
- Begin exploring early reading, writing and numeracy skills.
Our approved Kindy program is delivered by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher (ECT), 5 days a week.
